Go Crocs!!

Ashley Nicole Carey (Head Coach)

Our returning head coach this year, Ashley Nicole Carey, is currently working on her Masters degree at The University of Richmond and will be student teaching in the fall.  Ashley started swimming at the age of 7 for the Kings Charter Swim Team.  Just two years later, at the age of 9, she began swimming competitively for TRAC for 2 years and with the Milestone Makos until she was 18.

At the age of 15, Ashley discovered her passion for kids and coaching.  She coached the Milestone Makos for 6 years, beginning as a junior coach for 2 years, a developmental age group coach for 1 year and an assistant coach for 3 years.  Ashley also coached for BAC when she was 17 for the developmental age group and was an assistant coach for Kings Charter Tidal Waves.

Ashley considers coaching the highlight of her summer and looks forward to seeing everyone again for her third summer with Ashcreek. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact her at ancarey07@gmail.com.

Jay Colligan (Assistant Coach)

Hey everyone, my name is Jay Colligan and I will be coming back to the AshCreek Crocs staff as an assistant coach this summer!  I’m excited to get back to the pool and back to work for what should be a fun and successful summer.  I look forward to working with all the swimmers and parents as well.  As some of you may know, I’ve lived in AshCreek since 1996, and I started swimming with the Crocs during our very first season in the summer after my 3rd grade year.  I also spent 4 summers working at the pool as a lifeguard, and I am happy to be coming back to AshCreek for my third summer as an assistant coach.

In addition to my time spent swimming for the Crocs, I spent 3 years swimming with the Dolphin Club beginning in 8th grade and continuing on to my sophomore year of high school.  I also swam all 4 years of high school with the Atlee Raiders.  I graduated in 2006, and will be a senior at the University of Mary Washington.

Once again, I can’t wait to get back to the pool, and I’m looking forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting some new swimmers and parents, too. See you in May!

Rachel Bremer (Assistant Coach)

Rachel will be a senior at James Madison University this fall.  She swam for the Wyndham Tidal Waves team for 10 years and was one of their assistant coaches for one year.  She spent four years swimming competitively for NOVA; and for the last four summers, has taught swimming lessons and has been a lifeguard at Wyndham.

Rachel loves working with kids on their strokes.  Her biggest thrill is watching every swimmer improve and grow in their swimming abilities throughout the season.  She thinks that summer league should be competitive but fun. She is very excited about returning to AshCreek this summer for a third (and hopefully even more successful) season!  She is looking forward to seeing returning swimmers and welcoming new faces to the team.

Ben Catanese (Junior Coach)

I am very excited to be joining the coaching staff this summer.  My family moved to AshCreek in 2000 and this summer will be my 9th one participating on the AshCreek swim team.  I swim for Burkwood Aquatic Club and I am in my 8th year of year round swimming.  I have competed at Junior Nationals in Orlando, Florida and I plan to swim for a college team after I graduate next year from Maggie Walker Governor's School in 2010.  I have taught swim lessons to several of you (and even to a few of your parents!) and I am really looking forward to working with all of you this summer and cheering wildly at our meets while you speed along in the water.
